We are joining the World's Largest March For Life!

Mission:

The mission of the March for Life is to provide all Americans with a place to testify to the beauty of life and the dignity of each human person. Both in January, on the anniversary of legalized abortion in the US, and throughout the year we bring together pro-life leaders and groups to organize, unite and strategize around a common message, and to communicate this message to the government, the media and the nation in a way that is powerful and life affirming.

We will be leaving on Thursday, January, 18th for the actual March For Life that takes on Friday, January, 19th. We return on Sunday evening, January 21st. Questions? Contact P.J. Ehling at 513-284-3154 or by e-mail at dreyouthpastor@gmail.com.

History On March For Life:

January 22, 1973 is ingrained in the minds of pro-lifers because on that infamous historic day the Supreme Court invalidated 50 state laws and made abortion legal and available on demand throughout the United States in the now-infamous decisions in Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton.

The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world.  The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since 1973 is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand.

At the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, we mourned the death in 2012 of Nellie Gray, the founder of the March for Life and the “Joan of Arc” of the pro-life movement. In October 1973, months after the Roe and Doe decisions, a group of thirty pro-life leaders gathered in Nellie’s home in Washington, D.C. to discuss how to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Roe. There was a fear that January 22 would pass as any other day rather than allow for a moment to reflect upon how legalized abortion had hurt women and taken babies’ lives over the course of the year. That was the day that plans for the first March for Life began.

The Light Is On For You

Encounter the Peace of Christ During the Season of Lent

This Lent, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati will once again engage in the initiative, The Light Is On For You. On Tuesday, February 27 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm most Catholic parishes/pastoral regions will open their doors and provide the opportunity for private confession. (To take place at St. Mary, Bethel.)

If you have been reluctant to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, have been away from the Church for some time, or just find it difficult to get to a regularly scheduled confession time or communal penance service, this is your chance to experience the reconciling peace of Christ through the grace of the Sacrament. No stress, just peace!

Invite a Friend or Family Member to Encounter the Peace of Christ

Do you know someone who stopped coming to Mass or is experiencing doubt in their lives? Invite them to participate in The Light Is On For You on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Invite them to experience the peace of Christ through quiet prayer and through the grace of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Repent and sin no more… experience Christ’s peace!

Priests will hear private confessions and churches will be open for quiet reflection and prayer. Consider making a commitment this Lent to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation and receive the healing grace of God’s forgiveness and love.

9:00 AM St. Peter's

Noon St. Mary's

7:00 PM Both Parishes

According to the Catholic law of abstinence, every person 14 years of age or older must abstain from meat (and items made with meat) on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent. Every person between the age of 18 and 59 (beginning of 60th year) must fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. Lent is marked by fasting, both from food and festivities.

Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of blessing ashes made from palm branches blessed on the previous year's Palm Sunday, and placing them on the heads of participants. For the reception of ashes, the priest says, "Remember that you are dust and to dust you will return" or "Repent and believe in the Gospel."

THE GOSPEL: WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOUR LIFE?

Saturday April 7th 8:30am to 3:30pm at St. Mary, Bethel, OH

People say a lot of things about Jesus these days. Some say he’s a historical figure, others say he’s a myth or legend. At times he’s written off as a sage or guru, a Middle Eastern man with no impact for my life. But this isn’t who Jesus said he was! He clearly claimed to be God, which demands a response from all people. If he is God, we owe him our lives and worship. If he’s not, then he must be cast aside in our search for truth.

Join St. Mary, St. Peter, and our presenter, PJ Ehling, for a day of reflection as we dive deeper into Jesus’ claim of divinity. Come and see for yourself what Jesus really said, what he really did, and how your response to his claim to divinity can change your life and change the world.

Mark your calendars to attend the upcoming St. Peter's/St. Mary's PLACE: Fr. Lewis Center (St. Mary—Bethel) Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Don't miss this spiritual day of faith and fellowship!

To register, please contact Debbie DePuccio at (513) 460-4509, or at your parish office, by Palm Sunday, March 25th.
